VERNON -- A 37-year-old man who is a convicted sex offender has been indicted for allegedly cutting off his ankle monitor and fleeing police monitoring.

Richard Dobrowolski, of Vernon, was sentenced to community supervision for life as part of the conditions for his parole, Assistant Prosecutor Laura Navarro said on Friday. He was previously convicted of endangering the welfare of a child in Dec. 2003, she said.

Dobrowolski was charged in two separate indictments on Aug. 20 for allegedly violating special conditions of the electronic monitoring program, violating community supervision for life and failure to register a change of address pursuant to Megan's Law, authorities said in a news release.

He's expected to be arraigned before the Superior Court in Newton in the next six weeks, authorities said.
