Victor J. Marotta was hired this past December by Hopatcong
HOPATCONG -- Three months after hiring former freeholder and Vernon mayor Victor J. Marotta, the Hopatcong council unanimously voted to terminate his employment as borough administrator Thursday night, New Jersey Herald reported.
Borough attorney Marc Zitomer said the matter was a confidential personnel issue and declined to indicate the reason for Marotta's dismissal, the newspaper reported.
Marotta, who was not present at the meeting, has five days to file a statement of reconsideration before the dismissal becomes final, according to the report.
Marotta made waves in his own town in 2014 when he received a $40,000 pay bump, which was rescinded months later at his request.
