HAMBURG -- The community was in mourning this week after a 15-year-old Sussex County Technical School student died this week following a skateboard crash, New Jersey Herald reported.
Thomas Bock, a freshman at the technical school, died on Sunday at Morristown Medical Center after falling from his longboard at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and hitting his head on the pavement, the newspaper reported.
Bock, known to his friends and family as "Tommy," was an avid outdoorsman and was also a wrestler, lacrosse player, surfer and snowboarder, according to his obituary.
Bock played football for Sussex technical and wrestled for Wallkill Valley Regional High School in Hamburg. He was also a member of the Lake Tamerack Swim Team.
Bock is survived by his parents, his sister and other relatives.
Services will be held at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 4-24 Beaver Run Road in Hamburg on Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. Mass will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Christopher Reeve Foundation in Bock's name.
A GoFundMe has also been set up by friends to help the Bock family defer unexpected costs, the obituary said. As of Tuesday morning, the fundraiser has reached nearly $37,000.
