SUSSEX BOROUGH -- Saint Clare's Health will reduce services at its facility in Sussex Borough effective June 1, downgrading the 106-bed hospital from a satellite emergency and outpatient center to an urgent and primary care facility, New Jersey Herald reported.

The change will also reportedly result in a reduction of hours to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. The site was previously open every day, including weekends and holidays, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Unlike an emergency center, an urgent care facility is not required to have a physician on duty at all times, and these facilities are usually geared for matters not considered to be life-threatening such as allergy attacks and fractured bones, the newspaper reported.

Saint Clare's was acquired by Prime Healthcare of Ontario, Calif. in October 2015.

Besides the Sussex Borough facility, Saint Clare's also currently has two full-service hospitals in Denvillle and Dover, and a behavioral and psychiatric treatment center in Boonton.
