The dog will have to remain in a six-foot fenced-in enclosure
VERNON -- A Paterson police officer's 2-year-old American bully has received a reprieve after he was sentenced to death for biting off the tip of a mailman's finger, Northjersey.com reported.
Gabanna had been sentenced in March to be euthanized, but a settlement agreement between Jose Galvan and the Sussex County Prosecutor's Office allows the dog to return home under strict conditions, according to the report.
Under the terms of the agreement, Gabanna can reportedly return to his Vernon home if an enclosure with a six-foot-high fence is built on the property, and appropriate signage is visible on the property at least 50 feet from the enclosure. When not in the enclosure, the dog must also be muzzled and on a three-foot leash, the report said.
