A popular, 1950s/60s-themed restaurant in Frankford closed for good Monday night following a weekend of long lines and farewells.

Fans of the Chatterbox Drive-In have been buying up souvenirs, including nearly all of the restaurant's 21 booths priced at $500 apiece, owner Don Hall said Tuesday.

For those looking to save a few bucks, the 10 tables (including 4 chairs per table) are $250 apiece -- but Hall said there's a waiting list.

A Wawa is expected to open at the site of the Chatterbox in 2019, across the street from a Quick Chek that opened last week. Hall returned to the now-closed restaurant on Tuesday, where he was made a poignant change to the roadside sign.

The restaurant's slogan was, "Where Elvis has NOT left the building," which Hall adjusted to note that Elvis, indeed, has gone.

The Chatterbox opened in 2003.

Huge crowds showed up for the restaurant's final days, including the weekly "Bike Night" on Thursday.

Hall, asked about the final day, recalled posing for photos with customers.

"A little bit of closure, which was nice," he said. The final customer, at about 9 p.m. Monday, ordered chicken fritters.

While also selling off movie posters and other memorabilia, Hall said he isn't parting with an autographed photo of 'The Fonz,' aka actor Henry Winkler, that Winkler signed during the first of his two visits in 2010.

"I'm going to keep that one," Hall said, adding that he will hold a yard sale later this month for any remaining items.
