A freezing rain advisory has been issued for Hunterdon and Warren counties, as well as Philadelphia and other sections of southeastern Pennsylvania, effective through noon Tuesday.
The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, says light freezing rain could fall on this region and trace amounts of ice could accumulate on some roads, making driving difficult.
"A very light glaze of ice will cause untreated roadways and surfaces to become slick," the advisory reads. "Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving."
Tips for driving in nasty weather
Most of the precipitation that has been falling this morning has started to dissipate, but some icy patches could form on roads because temperatures in the advisory area remain below freezing, said Sarah Johnson, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service regional office in Mount Holly.
Once the freezing rain clears, it should remain dry throughout New Jersey Tuesday. But there's a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain Tuesday night, and it could change to snow in the far northwestern corner of the state, Johnson said.
