SPARTA -- Two siblings were arrested recently after police say they stole thousands in cash and jewelry from their aunt.

Officers responded to a home on Wednesday Jan. 20, where the homeowner told them she was missing $1,700 in cash and about $4,500 worth of jewelry, according to press release from Sgt. Dennis Proctor of the Sparta Township Police Department.

Police could not find any signs of forced entry into the home and the homeowner stated the only other people to have come into her home in the past month were her niece and nephew, 21-year-old Krystal L. Strobeck and 23-year-old Travis Strobeck, both from Branchville.

Based on their investigation, police determined that Krystal Strobeck pawned the jewelry and split the profits with her brother.

Police were able to retrieve the pawned items and return them to the homeowner who reported them missing.

Krystal and Travis Strobeck were both arrested and charged with third-degree theft and third-degree conspiracy with another to commit theft.  They was released pending future court dates.
