On Oct. 8, in the AMC Rockaway 16 Theater in Rockaway, N.J. USA, The Flying Shetlands will be hosting the film Unbranded.
The indy film, which was the result of a successful Kickstarter crowd funding campaign, tells the tale of four men, 16 wild horses and 3,000 miles of terrain to cover from Mexico to Canada.
The Flying Shetlands, a blog about equine art was founded by Sussex County teenager, Shya Beth.
Beth, 14, plans to donate any profits from the sale of tickets to Mylestone Equine Rescue in Warren County.
Tickets must be reserved by Oct. 1 via https://www.tugg.com/events/44728
Beth also founded #EquineArtHour on Twitter, which takes place each Tuesday and Friday. It is a chance for horse artists and horse art lovers to connect and for the artists to promote their art. Past guests include Jocelyn Russell, sculptor of the Sgt. Reckless monument and "Fergus" and Jean Abernethy, Horsefly Films, Breyer Horses and Raphael Macek.

The Story Of Unbranded
One of the riders and mastermind of Unbranded, Ben Masters, got the idea in 2010 after a 2,000-mile ride along the Continental Divide with two friends. At the time of their ride, they bought a couple of mustangs from the Bureau of Land Management to supplement their string of quarter horses. They soon found out that the mustangs performed even better then their domesticated horses. Masters then researched and studied more about mustangs, finding a disappointing and complex situation: 50,000 unwanted wild horses and burros living in government-leased pens and pastures and in need of permanent homes. He decided to do something about it. The Unbranded idea was born.
Joined by riders Jonny Fitzsimons, Thomas Glover, and Ben Thamer and Film Director Phillip Baribeau , the crew set out on their quest. Soon, they had people and organizations from around the world helping them with their Unbranded mission.
During the ride, Masters was charged with the mapping and logistics for 16 horses, the riders, and three alternating cameramen traveling through unpredictable terrain with changing landowners, agencies, and restrictions.
A native Texan, Masters graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in wildlife biology. During college, he attended classes in the spring, led horseback rides in Yellowstone during the summer, guided Wyoming elk hunts in the fall, and managed the Jacalon Ranch in South Texas over the winter. Masters, who is CEO of Fin & Fur Films, LLC, is also an accomplished photographer, an experienced horse trainer and packer, a dedicated conservationist, and main author of the book Unbranded.
