The 50-year-old Vernon man pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, New Jersey Herald reported.
NEWTON -- A Sussex County man is facing up to five years in prison after he admitted to stabbing his former girlfriend's 17-year-old son during an altercation in July 2014, New Jersey Herald reported.
Dennis Welling, 50, of Vernon, pleaded guilty in Sussex County Superior Court in Newton Wednesday to third-degree aggravated assault as part of a plea agreement, the newspaper reported.
The altercation, according to the newspaper, began in the early morning hours of July 5, 2014 when his girlfriend tried to leave the house with her kids and Welling stopped her. The teen son then got involved and Welling stabbed the teen in the abdomen, the newspaper reported.
