The 68-year-old former Boy Scout leader was stabbed approximately 30 times, authorities said

NEWTON - A 51-year-old Mansfield man was sentenced to more than three years in prison Thursday for his role in the fatal stabbing of a Stillwater man in 2012, according to the New Jersey Herald.

While drinking alcohol and using cocaine with a friend on June 12, 2012, Stillwater resident Clark Fredericks told his friend, Robert Reynolds, that his former Boy Scout leader - former Sussex County Corrections Officer Dennis Pegg - had sexually abused him when he was between the ages of 8 and 12.

The two men went to Pegg's home in Stillwater and Fredericks stabbed him 30 times while Reynolds watched, authorities said. Pegg, 68, was reportedly found with slashes to his neck, chest and torso.

Fredericks admitted in June 2015, that he entered Pegg's home and started stabbing him, while repeatedly asking: "How does it feel raping little boys?" Fredericks accepted a plea deal and was sentenced to five years in prison in December, with credit for time served.

Reynolds pleaded guilty to a third-degree count of burglary and another for hindering in July.

On Thursday, Superior Court Judge N. Peter Conforti sentenced Reynolds - who watched the brutal killing from Pegg's door - to serve 3 1/2 years in state prison, the New Jersey Herald reported.

He was given credit for 461 days for time served and will be eligible for parole on Sept. 12, the newspaper reported.
