FRANKLIN BOROUGH -- A chain reaction crash on Route 23 injured four people Thursday evening including an off-duty Hamburg officer who was flown to the hospital, police confirmed.
The officer, whose name was not released, was a passenger in the vehicle struck by a Dodge Ram operated by Joseph Marzorati, 59, of Montague about 300 feet south of Mitchell Avenue at 6:10 p.m., Franklin police Detective Nevin Mattessich said.
The crash, Mattessich said, propelled that vehicle into a third vehicle, which in turn struck a fourth vehicle.

Two other individuals were taken to local hospitals for injuries sustained in the crash but the off-duty officer was flown by helicopter to Morristown Medical Center because "medical personnel deemed it necessary," he said.
More information on the officer's condition wasn't immediately available.
