VERNON -- A longtime animal rights activist was arrested last month after he got stuck in a bear trap while trying to remove bait, New Jersey Herald reported.

In July 2008, Kazemian was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he was caught pouring human urine near a bear trap that had been set up on a neighbor's property to deter bears from entering the trap.
Last month, Kazemian, 59, found himself stuck in a bear trap in the Highland Lakes section of Vernon, according to the New Jersey Herald.
The property owner had set the trap after a bear had tried to enter a house and Kazemian initially asked to have the trap removed before allegedly trying to remove the bait, the report said.
Kazemian faces charges of disorderly conduct, harassment, resisting arrest, impeding the lawful taking of wildlife and obstruction of a governmental function, the report said.
Kazemian called someone on his cellphone to get help in freeing himself from the trap. He was arrested five days later with a pending court appearance.
