Authorities are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Lukoil on Route 515 and Route 94 Sunday evening.
VERNON -- Authorities are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Lukoil on Route 515 and Route 94 Sunday evening.
At about 8:09 p.m., a passerby reported the robbery by flagging down an officer, police said in a news release.
A gas station attendant told police a male wearing dark pants, a light-colored hooded sweatshirt, white sneakers and a mask covering his face approached him on foot. The man then pointed a firearm at the attendant and demanded money, police said.
After handing over an undisclosed amount of cash, the man then fled the area on foot, police said.

Investigators determined he fled to an awaiting vehicle and left the area of Main Street at a high rate of speed with the vehicle's headlights turned off. The vehicle was described as an older model light-colored SUV, with a loud muffler, police said.
