The man allegedly threatened to harm himself and anyone with whom he came into contact, police said.

FRANKLIN -- A man who threatened to harm himself and others faces multiple charges after he struggled with four officers when they attempted to detain him Monday, police said.

Daniel Faria, 39, of Franklin, became aggressive and challenged officers when they found him walking on Corkhill Road near Ogdensburg at about 3 p.m., Detective Sgt. Nevin Mattessich said in a news release.

Faria refused to comply with officers' commands and as the officers tried to detain him, Faria kicked and flailed, Mattessich said, who was among the officer involved. Three of the officers, Lt. Gregory Cugliari, Detective Daniel Flora and Officer Zach Oren, were kicked in the knees, while Mattessich said he was cut on his arm and went to a hospital for treatment.

Faria was taken to Newton Medical Center for evaluation. He is charged with four counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstruction of administration of law.

Mattessich said an undisclosed number of firearms were seized from Faria's residence.
