No lifeguards were on duty for these stunts
The end of summer means the end of all the action at Action Park, right?
Not so for a few intrepid young snowboarders, who were granted access to the Vernon water park (yes, the water park, not its sister park, Mountain Creek) as part of a video feature for Red Bull. Gliding through the park and its empty rides, they transform the vacant space into a frosty display of winter feats.
Filmed at Action Park in February of 2015, the video was posted to YouTube Monday as well as a dedicated "Snowmusement" website.
The site maps the snowboarder's video stunts near, through, over and on various warm-weather rides throughout the park, including The Vortex, a swirling water slide, and High Anxiety, a large funnel that in summer usually has water -- and water tubes that sit several people -- coursing through it. Powdery snow padding the grounds and slides enables the riders to jump and spin with the greatest of ease.
"Riding things that aren't built to be ridden is really cool because no snowboarder really sees something exactly the same," explains 15-year-old professional snowboarder Toby Miller as part of the video feature, after a little introduction about the historical perils of the water park.
Joining him for the wintry water-slide romp were snowboarders Red Gerard, 15, and his older brother Brendan.
Of course, in the absence of professional skills, please, don't try anything similar at home (or at Action Park).
