VERNON -- A township man was arrested last week after police say he violated a court order while highly intoxicated and became highly combative with officers.

Police responded to a call on Jan. 5 at about 8:42 p.m. reporting that Brandon Blenis, 32, of Vernon, was violating a court order.

Blenis, who was highly intoxicated and combative, was arrested at the scene and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle, police said in a news release. As he was being secured by officers, Blenis allegedly told them he was going to find them and kill them after this incident.

Blenis also spit on an officer during transport back to the police station, police said.

When searched by officers, Blenis was found to several .22-caliber bullets in his pocket, and a search of his backpack revealed a loaded .22-caliber handgun, police said.

Blenis was charged with contempt of a court order, criminal mischief, throwing bodily fluids at a law enforcement officer, terroristic threats and being under the influence of a narcotic.

Bail was initially set at $10,000 with no 10-percent option, but it was increased to $35,000 with no 10-percent option after Blenis was charged with theft of a firearm, unlawful possession of a weapon and certain persons not to possess a weapon.

Blenis was remanded to Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.
