About 40 drivers got to play the adult version of bumper cars as they smashed and bumped into each other on purpose before hundreds of fans during the second night of the demolition derby at the 2018 N.J. State Fair Sussex County Farm and Horse Show.
After competing at the fair's demolition derby for years, Montague's Ronnie Shauger was retiring from competition and won the first heat in the compact division. Unfortunately he didn't finish his final heat due to being injured and having to leave for medical care. Winners of the five heats shared over $4,000 in prize money.
The demolition derby was sponsored by Sarge & Sons Demolition Derby based in Zanesville, Ohio. The fair continues through Sunday.
