Median teacher pay in the top three Sussex County school districts was greater than $80,000.
SUSSEX COUNTY -- Median teacher salaries at eight Sussex school districts exceeded $70,000 in the 2015-2016 school year -- meaning half of the teachers in those districts earn more than the median and half earn less.
Wallkill Valley Regional ranked at the top of median pay in the county at $88,100, followed by: High Point Regional at $83,537; Kittatinny Regional at $80,370; Vernon at $78,090; Sparta at $73,513; Green at $72,885; Hopatcong at $72,485; and Lenape Valley Regional at $70,000, according to the recently released Taxpayer Guide to Education Spending.
Lenape Valley Regional was also the district with the greatest increase from the 2014-2015 school year to the 2015-2016 school year at $4,962.
Hopatcong and Stillwater were the districts with the sharpest decreases in median salaries year-to-year, with respective drops of $3,150 and $2,100. The median teacher salary in Stillwater this year was $63,255.
Overall, the average median salary in Passaic County this school year was about $66,161.
The five districts with the lowest median teacher salaries in the current school year were: Stanhope at $58,040; Franklin Borough at $57,325; Fredon at $54,940; Ogdensburg at $51,643; and Sussex County Technology at $50,455.
