Heiner Aichem, one of the three generations of Aichems to cook at the Black Forest Inn, will compete at 10 p.m. Tuesday on the Food Network
Heiner Aichem was born to schnitzel, but the chef of the family-run German restaurant The Black Forest Inn will have to prepare for the wurst Tuesday night.
On a special Oktoberfest episode of the Food Network's "Chopped," Aichem and three other contestants will be tasked with transforming a basket of Bavarian classics to celebrate the annual festival of all things German. Okay, mostly beer.
The "Chopped" appetizer round calls for pretzels and sauerkraut, among other times; the entree round will feature schnitzel and beer; and the dessert course must be crafted from spaetzle and chocolate sausage.
The episode airs at 10 p.m., with repeats on Oct. 14 at 1 a.m. and Oct. 22 at 7 p.m.
